dc gear motors

Looking for a 208 Series Motor? Try the 212 Series!

We’re streamlining our motor offerings, and to that end, we recently discontinued the 208 Series DC gear motors. Our 212 Series DC gear motors serve as direct replacements for 208s, but with more features (we know you love features).

212-dc-gear-motor.jpg

Here’s the nitty-gritty of the 212s as 208 replacements:

  • Still fit in small installation envelopes

  • Motor bracket replicates hole pattern of 208s for easy replacement

  • Both motors are single speed, clockwise or counterclockwise park

  • 212 Series motors park in the opposite direction from 208 Series; to maintain the same park position, use this wire harness if you have a plug-in harness

  • 212s have more torque, so they can run longer windshield wiper arm and blade combos

  • 212s are compatible with our motor covers (with and without rocker switch)

Sample Application: Rotary Actuation for Snowblowers

‘Tis the season for warm scarves, hot chocolate… and snow-filled driveways.

Our 210 Series DC gear motors are doing their part to ease the hassle of clearing your path. The 210s are frequently used to accurately and automatically position snowblower chutes because of their superior rotary actuation. The result? Snow ends up exactly where you want it.

Why do snowblower manufacturers prefer our motors?

  • Readily available

  • Cost-effective

  • Durable in harsh environments

Sample Application: Deploying Well Inspection Cameras

Looking for the perfect motor to send inspection cameras down into wells and then retrieve them safely? We’ve got just the thing: AM Equipment’s 226 Series DC Gear Motors or our new Long Life DC Gear Motors. Both motors are excellent choices for extended run intermittent use, which is what you need for long-distance deployment and retraction.

The 226 motor features a metal worm wheel for high-impact loads.

Our 240 Series Long Life DC Gear Motor uses a Delrin® high-contact ratio worm wheel for improved tooth engagement. The Long Life Motor is available with a two-channel encoder which can tele-control three vital pieces of information:

  1. How fast am I going?

  2. What direction am I going?

  3. Where am I?

Exciting, right? Contact us for specifics about how these motors could work for your application.

Sample Application: Solar Panel Positioning

Not only can AM Equipment's DC Gear Motors lift, lower, deploy, retract, rotate, oscillate, open and close, they can also do elevation and azimuth positioning for solar panels.

solar-panels.png

What's azimuth positioning?  A very fancy term for rotation to follow an astronomical object--in this case, our very own sun.  Elevation positioning refers to the tilting motion of the solar panels to face the sun, no matter its height in the sky.

A solar panel that follows the movement of the sun is far more productive than a stationary one, and we’re proud that our DC Gear Motors support the green energy industry.

Application Spotlight: EZ-F Powered Clutch

Adaptive Technology, LLC developed their EZ-F (Electric Zero-Force) powered clutch system to assist motorcyclists with left hand and arm issues by reducing the required handle pressure from 11-15 lbs down to 8-10 oz.  Their product found a broader market, though, beyond those with reduced hand strength:  anyone who rides in heavy traffic and constantly pulls the clutch handle can benefit from upgrading to an EZ-F.

When Adaptive Technology, LLC, was seeking the perfect motor for their application, they were thrilled to find AM Equipment's 218 Series DC Gear Motor.  It is an 18 Nm motor, and they're using the 12 V version with the left-hand housing.

We're excited to be part of this new and empowering product.

An added bonus:  Adaptive Technology, LLC is based in Oregon, just like AM Equipment!

Case Study: Laval Underground

Laval Underground pioneered the concept of well camera inspection in the 1940s.  As technology advanced, the once-bulky, truck-mounted system shrank small enough to mount on a handcart and inspect water wells and boreholes as small as 2".  To drive it, Laval needed a strong, lightweight, DC battery-powered motor able to deploy and retrieve up to 1300 feet of cable.

AM Equipment supplied a solution, with a motor built for strength and efficiency.  AM Equipment's 226 Series DC Gear Motor provided the torque and speed necessary for Laval's stringent requirements while minimizing battery power consumption.
